Lupin launches pregnancy prevention drug in US

Turqoz (Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol) tablets are the generic equivalent of Lo/Ovral-28 (Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol) tablets of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals LLC and is a contraceptive drug indicated to prevent pregnancy.

According to IQVIA MAT October 2023, Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets (RLD: Lo/Ovral-28) had estimated annual sales of $33 million in the U.S.

Lupin is a leading manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in India and a key supplier to global bodies and governments in more than 70 countries.

The pharmaceutical company?s consolidated net profit zoomed to Rs 495.32 crore in Q2 FY24 as against Rs 134.47 crore recorded in Q2 FY23. Revenue from operations rose 20.7% YoY to Rs 4,939.23 crore in Q2 FY24.

The srip declined 2.36% to currently trade at Rs 1,265.75 on the BSE.
