Base Metals Preview: COMEX Copper Climbs to Three-Week High

COMEX copper climbed to a three-week high of $6.76 per pound on Wednesday, gaining more than 0.5% on the day as the US dollar retreated after briefly strengthening in the previous session.

The softer dollar provided some support to copper prices, while firmer sentiment across US equities also helped underpin the broader market mood.

On Wall Street, major indices recovered on Tuesday after a mixed close in the previous session. The Nasdaq gained 171.11 points, or 0.7%, to 26,151.80, while the S&P 500 rose 24.42 points, or 0.3%, to 7,677.28. The Dow Jones advanced 160.24 points, or 0.3%, to 53,577.40.

Overall, easing dollar strength and a positive tone in US equities helped copper extend its recent gains, with investors continuing to track currency movements and broader risk sentiment.
